Happy New Year!

So many wonderful writing things happened to me in 2012, I almost hate to see it end

  • I joined Romance Writer's of America
  • I found a sub-chapter of writers, the Fantasy, Futuristic, & Paranormal Writer's group of RWA, and I kind of feel like that awesome little Bee-girl in the 90's music video by Blind Melon, NO RAIN,  where the little outcast Bee finds her hive of Bees - yeah - that's me this year, found my buds, and I hope they'll let me continue to play in the Mud Puddle for years to come
  • I took an editing class hosted by FF&P where Lynn Johnston taught me, and a tribe of awesome authors how to edit the life back into my story with stimulus-response units - while I may have been born a story-teller, learning how to craft that ability has been my main focus and challenge of 2012. I still have lots to learn, but what's cool is, I love that part of writing
  • I joined an online writing group named the Triple E's where I share ideas regarding craft and the best of fiction
  • I continued to participate in the Riverstone Book Club where we read and discussed some of fiction's finest titles
  • I took a class on plotting offered by Margie Lawson, one of the best teachers available on the fiction writing circuit - her EDITS system, and Empowering Character's Emotion's packets were among the finest learning tools I've tuned into
  • I continue to check in with my favorite writing blogs: Check them out on my blog list - great writing posts, and lore, and all that jazz
  • I participated in, and won the National Novel Writing Month's challenge to complete the first draft of a novel (50,000 words) during the month of November - it's a Work-In-Progress

  • Several of the authors I've had the privilege to work with this year have gone forward and found ways to publish their fiction:

    • Amber Belldene's debut novel BLOOD VINE, a paranormal romance will be published by Omnific Publishing January 8th

    • Celia Breslin's debut urban fantasy novel HAVEN will be published by Burst Books, a division of Champagne Book Group, in July 2013

    • Tricia Skinner's debut urban fantasy novel ANGEL BAIT will be published by Crimson Romance February 18th

    • Chuck Millhouse published his latest novella, CAPTAIN HAWKLIN AND THE SKYHOOK PIRATES on Amazon for Kindle, 121212

    • I was awarded a contract with Boroughs Publishing Group for my short-story Dragonstone, for their Lunchbox Romance Line - release date pending

    • I revised and edited both my Romantic Suspense novels, CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR... & ALL YOUR WISHES... and re-released them on Amazon for Kindle, and Amazon's Create Space paperback division

All-in-all, not a bad year for writers of fiction.

Hope you can count 2012 as a year of success in your own wonderful ways. Personally, I'm looking forward to the possibilities of 2013.
